Chief Lending Officer
First Commonwealth Credit Union
Named chief lending officer of First Commonwealth in October 2021, Terry Grier provides the credit union with strategic direction and oversight of consumer lending, business solutions, loan operations and debt resolution. He brought more than 25 years of leadership and 18 years within the financial services industry to the job.
The catalyst that led him to this career “was seeing myself in a position to help business owners fulfill their dreams … by providing the right guidance, services and financial solutions,” Grier said. “I know firsthand how important it is for business owners to have access to capital and a trusted financial partner … because my father was a business owner and he relied heavily on his financial institution for guidance as he grew his business.”
He noted that technological advances have brought digital platforms that “allow our members convenient and technological ways to conduct financial transactions 24 hours a day from their mobile phone and the convenience of their home.” First Commonwealth has made significant investments in digital banking solutions, virtual financial centers for members, and enhancements to improve back-office processes, enabling the credit union “to streamline the way we deliver more value and an exceptional experience to our members.”
Making sure First Commonwealth’s products and services “are relevant and innovative to help our members thrive both personally and in their businesses” is a challenge as well as a reward, Grier explained. Being able to offer creative solutions “to support our members in their pursuit of financial happiness has been my passion and driving force.”
