Uber service back at LVIA

The airport already has Lyft service available for customers and now reached an agreement Thursday to bring Uber service back.

Uber’s annual contract with LVIA expired on June 30, said Colin Riccobon, public information officer for LVIA. Airport officials had been working on an agreement with Uber and couldn’t get an agreement in place so Uber had suspended operations at the airport, Riccobon said.

“It has been a priority to have them back here,” Riccobon said. “They really add a cultural component to enhancing the customer experience. I think airports across the country are adapting to this new mode of transportation.”

LVIA established a staging area for an Uber and Lyft pick-up and drop-off area outside the main terminal on the second level by the departures section, he added.

The Uber app will define the space where passengers need to go to get dropped off or picked up, he said.

With the two ride-share services and the multimodal center that opened at the airport in August, passengers have more transportation options, he added.
