Sorgi leads a team of more than 12,000 employees in the U.S. and U.K. aligned around a singular mission: to provide electricity and natural gas safely, reliably and affordably to more than 10 million customers every day. Along with PPL’s leadership team, he is focused on setting the strategy and direction for the company so it can continue delivering long-term value for customers and shareowners.
Sorgi became president and CEO in June 2020. Before that he had served as president and COO since July 2019 and as CFO from 2014 to 2019.
“I’m incredibly proud of the work we do at PPL to make life better for those we serve. We deliver a service that is essential to our way of life, and that reality brings with it an awesome responsibility, but it also offers a sense of purpose that is just incredibly rewarding,” Sorgi said last year. “I feel the most joy and pride in seeing others develop into great leaders. In my opinion, the greatest compliment to a leader is
when they move on and no one notices.”
Most important life lesson: “My parents instilled in me the value of an honest day’s work and a job well done at a very young age. But it’s important to not get lost in your goals and to always remember the Golden Rule: treat others the way you want to be treated. To be fair and compassionate, I try to view and appreciate a situation from other people’s points of view.”
For Sorgi, family is a huge part of who “I am today and what drives me. We enjoy spending time together whether we are on a mountain skiing, a lake boating or just hanging out at home. I also love to relax by playing guitar or going for long walks,” he said.
