Walmart is raising pay for its more than 36,000 pharmacy technicians.
The company said pay for pharmacy technicians at its Walmart and Sam’s Club stores will increase to more than $20 per hour, effective this week. More than 1,000 pharmacy technicians are employed in Pennsylvania, the company said.
In addition, the employees will get more frequent, automatic pay raises as Walmart introduces a progressive wage model, Walmart said.
Walmart is also offering to cover the cost of certification for the pharmacy technicians and will pay for the certification exam. The company said certified technicians can make $3 more per hour than non-certified employees.

These investments reflect that and send a strong signal to pharmacy techs everywhere that Walmart is serious about attracting top talent and giving them the tools to build a successful career.
