Women’s probiotics business wins StartUp pitch competition

With Meraki Co. captured the $20,000 grand prize provided by Penn State Lehigh Valley LaunchBox in StartUp Lehigh Valley’s fourth annual entrepreneurial pitch competition, held Oct. 26 at Factory LLC.
The 10 applicants this year were the most in the event’s history. They will be connected with Lehigh Valley LaunchBox’s resources for startup businesses, including legal advice, marketing resources, mentors and grant-funding opportunities. Beckon Ice Cream was first runner-up, taking home $3,000, and Baleena was awarded $2,000 as second runner-up.
With Meraki Co., which makes and sells women’s probiotics, also received the $5,000 Ben Franklin Award, while Baleena was the recipient of the $1,000 Audience (Viewer’s Choice) Award. The Kick A$$ Award went to Lehigh University. And LaunchBox Boost Awards were presented to Baleena and Fila Manila, with the Teen Entrepreneurship Camp Pitch Boost Award going to Steel City Motorsports for “Stand Handz.”
