The 204-unit apartment project dubbed Woodmont Valley in Lower Macungie Township cut a ribbon Thursday to commemorate its opening and announce that construction will be completed by spring.
Owned by Woodmont Properties of Fairfield, N.J., it is the fourth project to be completed by the company in the Greater Lehigh Valley.
Tenants started moving into the luxury apartments in July, which are more than 30 percent leased. Rents for one-bedroom units start at $1,430, two bedrooms at $1,515 and carriage homes at $1,950.
“This is going to be a great little place to shop and to live, so we’re excited about this project,” said Stephen A. Santola, executive vice president and general counsel of Woodmont Properties.
The cost of the project was not disclosed.
Situated on what was vacant land off Route 100 between Mack Trucks and Allen Organ Co., the property offers prime space for an underserved market seeking residential living without the upkeep of a home. The site is within walking distance to the neighboring borough of Macungie.
Construction is finished on the clubhouse, which has amenities including an outdoor pool, movie lounge, business center and more. Aside from some units already built and ready for occupancy, the site has several carriage homes complete.
The carriage homes have townhouse-style features that include living space on one and two floors, lofts, private garages and direct outdoor access.
Aside from having multiple floor plans, the units range in size from 850 to 1,490 square feet.
Leases range from 12 to 15 months. When the property stabilizes and is at about 95 percent occupancy, it also will offer leases as short as three months.
“We are ahead of schedule on this project, and it takes a lot of hard work to make things like this happen,” said Lewis Zlotnick, president of Woodmont Properties.
“Today, we have leased approximately 70 of 204 apartments, we have 30 residents who call Woodmont their home, and we have either completed or under construction all 204 apartments,” Zlotnick said.
“Construction should be completed in spring 2018,” he said.
The site is adjacent to what will be a Weis Markets grocery store.
Woodmont Properties is doing the site work for Weis, which will build the store that will replace an existing Weis across the street.
