AT&T‘s customers in Eastern and South Central Pennsylvania should be getting better service.
AT&T said it has added more than 300 cell sites across the region, which should boost speeds by up to 80%.
Those additions were aimed at adding more capacity, less congestion, and faster speeds.
More than 50 cell sites have been added in the Leigh Valley, 16 in the Reading area, 18 in York, 17 in Harrisburg and 15 in Lancaster.
According to a press release, AT&T has now deployed newly acquired spectrum from EchoStar that is already expanding coverage cities and towns across the country at over 23,000 cell sites.
“We’ve put EchoStar spectrum to work on our network and customers are already feeling the difference,” said Jeff McElfresh, chief operating officer, AT&T. “This gives us the runway to expand availability of AT&T Internet Air for consumers and businesses and add even more download speed to our 5G service. We’re setting the bar for what it means to be the best advanced networking company in America.”
The company said the deployment powers improved and capital-efficient long-term growth by accelerating the company’s ability to add converged subscribers with both 5G wireless and home internet services in more places.
