Berks businesses look to benefit from Casey’s grants for lower energy costs

‘s and Peter G. Reifsnyder Inc. are among the recipients of totaling $4,537,255 and secured by , D-PA. 

According to a release, the grants will go towards purchasing and installing solar energy systems and improving waste digestion to help and save on energy costs. The 20 awards will aid businesses and farms to purchase and install solar photovoltaic systems which convert captured solar energy into electricity to power machines and operations. 

Wise will receive $79,000 and Reifsnyder $66,250. Grants are funded by the . 

“When we invest in technology that lowers energy costs for our businesses and farmers, we are investing in the commonwealth’s long-term success,” Casey said in a statement. “Thanks to the Inflation Reduction Act, farmers and small businesses can continue supporting their families and their communities and save thousands of dollars each year.” 

Funds will also help a Pennsylvania dairy farm purchase and install a new engine for their anerobic digester. The comes from the U.S Department of Agriculture’s program through the Inflation Reduction Act.
