Retriever Brewing Co., which got its start at the height of the COVID-19 pandemic, is now ready to open its brick-and-mortar location.

The company is taking over the in Orefield, at 2844 Township Line Rd., which has served as a wedding and event venue.

Retriever Brewing will be taking over the entire 5.5-acre property and will call it the Retriever Brewing Compound. It will continue to host weddings and events on the property.

Matt Andersen, founder of the brewing company, said he hopes to be up and running by June or July.

The 8,000-square-foot building, which is currently used as the main wedding venue, will be Retriever’s beer hall. A 2,000-square-foot pub building will be the pub and pool deck and a 5,000-square-foot garage on the property will house brewing operations and storage.

The beer hall will be Retriever’s main building, but the microbrewery will also use the pub and pool deck when the beer hall is being used for an event.

The pub and pool deck can also be reserved for private events. The space holds up to 50 people.

In addition to the indoor venues, Retriever Brewing will offer outdoor seating on three large patios. One is attached to the beer hall. There is also a pool deck with seating surrounding the pool at the pub and pool deck and there will be a beer garden with picnic tables and fire pits.

Of course, since the microbrewery is named after a dog breed, all outdoor facilities are dog-friendly.

Andersen said the company will be making minor renovations to the property. It will also be looking to partner with a food vendor to provide food options throughout the different venues.

Live music, events and other activities are also planned once the Retriever Brewing Compound gets up and running.

In the meantime Retriever Brewing is selling its beer and merchandise directly and is shipping beer to customers in Pennsylvania through its website, retrieverbrewco.com.
