The of has named Brooke Smith as its new CEO. She is replacing Kenny Montijo, who left the position in May.

Smith is no stranger to the organization. She previously served as director of community impact for the Lebanon County United Way.

Smith has an extensive background in and community service including previous experience as Executive Director of Compeer of Lebanon County, which helps people recovering from mental illness.

“We are enthusiastic about Brooke’s return to United Way as our new CEO. Her broad nonprofit expertise, familiarity with United Way, and deep connection to our community will serve our mission well,” said Phil Domencic, United Way of Lebanon County board president.

He said Smith was the ideal candidate for the position with her experience and her connections within the community services field in the county.

“She has a real passion for people and service. Combining that with her experience she was the obvious choice for the position,” Domencic said.

She currently works for Community Action Partnership, where she leads a collective impact partnership of school districts and community partners with a focus on increasing kindergarten readiness.

Domencic said that experience in leading collective impact work between agencies will be a benefit to her in the role as the United Way works to encourage its member agencies to work collaboratively in partnerships that will increase their collective positive impact in the community.

Smith’s first official day as CEO will be Aug. 12.
