Dan’s Camera City sold to Michigan retailers

A prominent Lehigh Valley retailer is changing hands.  

 The owners of in are retiring, and starting in July, the will be run by a team of behind CameraMall in , alongside Dan’s longtime staffers.  

While the new owners said they plan on making some changes to fuel the business’ growth, they described most of the changes as “behind-the-scenes” improvements. 

The new owners plan to switch to an updated, modern , add improved lab order tracking, and an updated website with real-time product availability and pricing. 

They also said they plan to have an expanded selection of products in-store. 

The name, website and physical location will remain the same. 

Dan Poresky founded Dan’s Camera City in 1977. The current owners purchased the business when he retired in 2003. 

The new owners are Craig Kufta and Desmond Rio. 

Kufta is a second-generation camera store owner.  

In 2015, he partnered with Rio to co-found CameraMall while Rio was attending the University of Michigan. 

They have since expanded to operate CameraMall and Woodward Camera in Michigan, as well as Art’s Cameras Plus in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.
