Prices at the pump are heading down again.
This comes after a couple of steady weeks that followed several increases in the price of gas in the state.
According to AAA East Central’s latest gas price report, gas prices are 3.2 cents lower in Pennsylvania this week at $3.327 per gallon.
In the Lehigh Valley, the average price for a gallon of gas was $3.144 on March 6 compared to $3.227 on April 29. Gas prices are still trending far lower than this time last year. The average price for a gallon of gas on May 6, 2024 was $3.745.
Meanwhile, the national average for a gallon of regular held steady over the past week at $3.158.
Even though this is the time of year when there are seasonal increases and rising demand, AAA said crude oil prices have been plunging.
It noted that a couple of factors are at play: including economic concerns and the decision by OPEC to increase output and add more oil to the market. The lower the oil price, the less drivers pay at the pump. Today’s national average is 10 cents less than a month ago and 49.3 cents less than a year ago.
