Herbein + Co. Inc. acquires Philly-area accounting firm

Listen to this articleAs part of the agreement, all five GPM partners, Thomas W. Masoero, Kenneth S. Frebowitz, Alan C. Wecht, Regina C. O’Keefe and Frank E. O’Brien, will join Herbein as partners as the Berks-based firm adds a total of 24 employees.
The GPM partners and their staff will continue to work out of the GPM offices in Spring House (Montgomery County) and Marlton, N.J.
“Adding all five GPM partners and the entire GPM team is a great move for Herbein as we expand geographically,” said Michael J. Rowley, chief operating officer of Herbein Co. Inc. “Growth creates opportunities, and we are focused on smart growth for our clients and our team members.”
Masoero said that joining a larger firm will “provide significant advantages in technology, recruitment and operations.”
With the addition of the 24 GPM staff and 20 other new hires in January, Herbein said in a release that it will top the 200 employee mark for the first time.
Financial details of the transaction were not disclosed.
