It’s official. After announcing plans for Lehigh Valley Health Network to acquire the privately owned Coordinated Health of South Whitehall in September, the health network has officially closed on the deal.
Terms of the deal were not disclosed.
Brian Nester, president and CEO of LVHN, said transition details are still being worked out. In the meantime Coordinated Health, while a part of LVHN, will be operating in the same manner it had been.
“Current Coordinated Health offices and hospitals will continue normal operations with no immediate changes to the great service and access patients are accustomed to receiving at Coordinated Health and Lehigh Valley Health Network,” Nester said in a release.
The big change off the bat will be leadership.
Emil DiIorio, chairman, CEO and owner of Coordinated Health is out.
“He will not be involved with the organization moving forward,” said LVHN spokesman, Brian Downs. “He was the seller in the deal.”

In DiIorio’s place will be Amy Nyberg, who will serve as president of all Coordinated Health Operations within the Lehigh Valley Health Network.
Nyberg has been with Coordinated Health since 2013 and was most recently chief operating officer.
Nyber said joining LVHN will help Coordinated Health continue to provide excellent orthopedic care.
“The union of our organizations affirms our commitment to provide world-class orthopedic, sports medicine and specialty care to our patients and community, and we are very excited to have our talented team at Coordinated Health join the region’s most trusted and awarded health network,” Nyberg said.
Coordinated Health is a hospital and health network with 22 locations throughout the Lehigh Valley, Northeastern Pennsylvania and western New Jersey.
It employs more than 1,200 personnel working in outpatient offices, two hospitals and two Ambulatory Surgery Centers.
