For a second consecutive year, Lehigh Valley International Airport (ABE) has been ranked among the “Best Small Airports” by Newsweek Readers’ Choice Awards.
It came in as number two out of 16 airports that were named as finalists, right behind Huntsville International Airport in Huntsville, Alabama.
The airport was also up against airports including Jackson Hole Airport in Wyoming and Bangor International Airport in Maine.
In its nomination, Newsweek noted that LVIA has three major airline partners plus a budget partner with 15 nonstop destinations.
“If you’re traveling with kids, you’ll enjoy features like the children’s play area, which lets littles get their wiggles out, and the sensory room, which provides a soothing reprieve when travel gets overwhelming,” it said on its website.
Calling small airports ideal for those who love to travel but hate dealing with the congested terminals and long lines common at large airports, Newsweek said its top picks feature dozens of nonstop flights to major cities across the country and, regardless of size, shine in the service department.
“ABE is truly honored to celebrate this achievement with our staff, airport stakeholders, and customers. We appreciate everyone who voted to ensure the Lehigh Valley was once again recognized on the national stage,” said Thomas R. Stoudt, executive director of the Lehigh-Northampton Airport Authority. “Over the last year, the Airport has remained committed to further enhancing passenger amenities which helps us maintain the highest level of service throughout the entire travel experience. Receiving this award for two straight years affirms that the efforts of our dedicated staff and stakeholders still rank among the best in the country.”
