Since 1934 one Easton meat manufacturer and distributor has shipped its products to customers within a 250-mile radius. However, the recent addition of an online brand has changed all that.

With the launch of ButcherHouse Cuts, the family-owned and operated R&R Provision Co. now offers the option to order the company’s products and have them shipped anywhere in the U.S.

“It’s taken off extremely well,” said R&R Provision President Richard “Rick” Rogers II. “As soon as the order comes in, we cut it and blast freeze it.”

Workers pack the orders in reusable ice chest coolers that come with two reusable ice packs.

The privately owned company celebrated its 85th anniversary this year and continues to serve restaurants, country clubs, culinary arts schools, hospitals, nursing homes and other organizations with wholesale products that include specialties such as corned beef brisket, ribeye, tenderloins and boneless Delmonico steaks in addition to pork, lamb, veal, and chicken. Customers can also buy bacon, scrapple, pork roll, steak burgers, combination packs, corporate gifts and gift certificates through the website.

The workers at R&R Provision also hand-cut the meats, a rarity in the meat manufacturing world.

Previously, the company trucked its products customers within the 250-mile radius. Now, it’s also using FedEx, which can carry its meats to clients all over the nation and deliver them within one to two days. They can go anywhere except Hawaii and Alaska, Rogers said.

Wholesale is still 98 percent of R&R Provision’s business, he added.

“We are just having another value-added brand,” Rogers said.

The decision to expand shipping across the nation was prompted by a desire to take care of customers, friends and families who wanted to order the company’s products but had moved out of the area, he said.
