Pa. gaming revenue for February decreases from last year’s total

Pennsylvania’s combined total revenue generated from all forms of gaming along with fantasy contests during February 2025 decreased nearly 4.4% from this time last year.

The Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board (PGCB) reported the total revenue generated in February 2025 was $477,250,631, a decrease of 4.38% compared to revenue from last February. Revenue from iGaming continued to show a year-over-year increase.

The PGCB oversees all aspects of gambling involving 17 land-based casinos, online casino games, retail and online sports wagering, and Video Gaming Terminals (VGTs) at qualified truck stops, along with the regulation of online fantasy sports contests. Pennsylvania‘s land-based casino industry consists of six racetrack (Category 1) casinos, five stand-alone (Category 2) casinos, two resort (Category 3) casinos and four mini-casinos (Category 4). Casinos and the other types of Board-regulated gaming represent a significant job generator in Pennsylvania, casinos and generate $2.66 billion in tax revenue and fees in 2024.

February iGaming revenue totaled $202,742,794, which was 12.3% higher than last year. Total tax from games revenue during February 2025 was $202,520,233

Retail slot machines revenue for February 2025 was $186,277,450, an 8.12% decrease from the $202,742,794 generated one year ago. The number of slot machines in operation in February 2025 was 24,404 compared to 24,886 at the casinos in February 2024. Tax revenue from the play of slot machines in February 2025 was $94,161,204.

February 2025 retail table games generated revenue of $71,158,976, a decrease of 7.16% from February 2024 when revenue was $76,645,816. Total tax revenue from table games play during February 2025 was $11,938,213.

Casino games offered online produced a record amount of monthly gross revenue totaling $207,636,713 during the month. It’s an increase of 12.27% over the revenue of $184,944,898 from February 2024. Tax revenue generated from iGaming this February was $91,839,652.

The total sports wagering handle for February 2025 was $756,926,216, an increase of 14.38% from the $661,740,812 one year ago. Taxable revenue for February 2025 was $7,485,177, 75.26% lower than the $30,252,627 from last February. Tax revenue generated from sports wagering during February 2025 was $2,694,664.

February 2025 total adjusted revenue for video gaming terminals (VGTs) was $3,196,360, 1.15% lower than last February’s revenue total of $3,233,524. VGT Operators by the end of February 2025 offered the maximum permitted five machines at each of the 74 qualified truck stop establishments, compared to five machines at each of the 72 establishments at this time last year. Tax revenue from the play of VGTs in February 2025 was $1,662,107.

Fantasy Contests revenue this February was $1,495,955, an increase of 17.46% over the February 2024 revenue of $1,273,55. Tax revenue collected from the play of Fantasy Contests in February 2025 was $224,393.
