PA gaming revenue up 11% in April, tops $558 million

The combined total revenue generated from all forms of gaming along with during April 2025 increased nearly 11%, the Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board () reported Monday. 

April’s total revenue from gaming revenue in April 2025 was $558,717,922, an increase of 10.7% over April 2024. Total tax from games revenue during April 2025 was $234,493,926. 

Revenue from the play of retail in April was $203,094,831, a 1.16% decrease in revenue from the $205,485,828 generated last April. The number of slot machines in operation in April 2025 was 24,363 compared to 24,890 at the casinos in April 2024. Tax revenue in April from slot machines was $102,841,807. 

revenue for April 2025 was $80,604,940, an increase of 2.70% from the April 2024 revenue of $78,482,947. Total tax revenue from table games play during April was $13,496,060. 

Casino games offered online generated monthly gross revenue totaling $227,708,892 during April 2025. It is an increase of 31.30% over the April 2024 revenue of $173,425,559. Tax revenue generated from iGaming during April 2025 was $100,825,684. 

Total handle in April 2025 was $711,569,216, an increase of 10.14% compared to the April 2024 total of $646,061,065. The taxable revenue figure for April 2025 was $42,533,444, 0.29% higher when compared to the April 2024 taxable revenue of $42,412,510. Tax revenue generated from sports wagering during April 2025 was $15,312,040. 

Total adjusted revenue for April 2025 for (VGTs) was $3,518,821, 3.55% lower than the April 2024 revenue of $3,648,270. According to a release, by the end of April 2025, all VGT Operators offered the maximum permitted five machines at each of the 74 qualified truck stop establishments, compared to five machines at each of the 74 establishments at this time last year. Tax revenue collected from the play of VGTs in April 2025 was $1,829,787. 

Fantasy Contests revenue was $1,256,994 in April 2025, an increase of 2.34% over the revenue of $1,228,294 generated this time last year. Tax revenue collected from Fantasy Contests in April 2025 was $188,549. 

The Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board oversees all aspects of gambling involving 17 land-based casinos, , retail and online sports wagering, and VGTs at qualified truck stops, along with the regulation of online fantasy sports contests. 

The land-based casino industry in Pennsylvania consists of six racetrack (Category 1) casinos, five stand-alone (Category 2) casinos, two resort (Category 3) casinos and four mini-casinos (Category 4). A significant job generator in Pennsylvania, casinos and the other types of Board-regulated gaming generated $2.66 billion in tax revenue and fees in 2024.
