More than 60 nonprofit organizations across Eastern and Central Pennsylvania ranging from the Allentown School District Foundation to the Lancaster Area Habitat for Humanity are benefiting from $500,000 in Empowering Communities grants made by the PPL Foundation.
The grants are geared to help fund programs that promote environmental stewardship, expand access to critical needs, and drive economic and workforce development in the region.
“Across our communities, nonprofit organizations are doing incredible work – helping families access fresh food and safe housing, supporting small businesses, protecting our environment, and opening doors to career pathways,” said Lissette Santana, president of the PPL Foundation. “We’re proud to stand alongside these organizations and invest in their efforts to make our communities more resilient and sustainable.”
The grants will support initiatives throughout PPL Electric Utilities’ 29-county service area. The full list of Empowering Communities Grants is available here.
PPL Foundation’s next round of funding will be Energizing Education Grants and will focus on creating equitable, high-quality learning experiences for students.
These grants are designed to support programs in STEM education, literacy, summer learning, and college and career readiness. The application window opened on Aug. 1 and will remain open through Sept. 15.
