Robesonia-based  (RBS), a global manufacturer of snack production systems, introduced an ambient cooling conveyor that cools crackers before in a more‐compact footprint.

Prior to packaging, crackers must be cooled to a specific temperature otherwise condensation can occur in the sealed package, which compromises the product’s texture and shelf life.

“The new Thomas L. Green Ambient Cooling Conveyor design is a win‐win for cracker manufacturers, as it is more efficient to operate and easier to clean and maintain.” said Cameron Johnston, director, engineering RBS. “It also reduces energy consumption, energy waste and employee safety hazards.”

The new cooling-tunnel system is modular, allowing varying set ups to suit manufacturers or process needs. Each module is equipped with upper and lower fans with individual speed controls.

Operators can control the airflow across the top and bottom of the crackers via touchscreen controls. Maintenance is also simpler and easier, officials said.

Air filtration cartridges can be reached without ladders and changed or cleaned without the use of tools. Air handling blowers can also be reached at ground level.
