Reading Hospital opens full-service pharmacy

Listen to this articleReading Hospital is opening a full-service pharmacy on 7th Avenue in Reading Hospital’s Doctor’s Office Building Thursday.
The pharmacy, which will open with a ribbon-cutting at 10 a.m. followed by a grand opening event at 11 a.m. will provide individuals with their prescriptions, over-the-counter medications, and supplements, Reading Hospital said.
“We are so excited to launch a second full-service pharmacy for our employees and community members,” said Dr. Charles Barbera, president and CEO of Reading Hospital. “Our ability to provide more specialized medications that may not otherwise be conveniently available will be a tremendous benefit to patients. We are happy to help address the complete health needs of our families, friends, and neighbors.”
Reading Hospital 7th Avenue Pharmacy will also be a member of the Specialty Management Program, allowing the pharmacy to provide specialized medications that may require advanced storage and handling, Barbera said.
The pharmacy will also serve as a drop-off location for unused medication to ensure proper disposal, offer medication counseling, automatic refills, prescription transfers, and text notifications.
Sue Perrotty, president and CEO of Tower Health; Barbera; Michael Stern, COO of Tower Health; and Michael Kleinschmidt, vice president of Acute and Retail Pharmacy at Reading Hospital will speak during the event.
The Reading Hospital 7th Ave Pharmacy will be open Monday to Friday from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m., and on Saturday from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. The pharmacy will be closed on Sundays.
