St. Luke’s earns accreditation for electronic records use

St. Luke’s University Health Network recently received the highest designation a health system can earn for its electronic . 

St. Luke’s achieved (HIMSS) Stage 7 , the highest designation on the HIMSS Analytics Electronic Medical Record Adoption Model. 

HIMSS Analytics evaluates hospitals on their use of electronic medical records, using methodology and algorithms to score all areas, including inpatient, outpatient and same day services. 

St. Luke’s said the Stage 7 designation acknowledges its extensive and creative use of electronic medical records to improve service and quality of care at lower costs. 

 “This Stage 7 achievement is a testament to St. Luke’s commitment to optimize the use of data, information and technology to advance quality of care,” said Chief Information Officer Chad Brisendine. “We have incredibly devoted teams who worked hard to use innovative technology and advanced analytics to improve patient outcomes.” 

St. Luke’s use of electronic medical records and advanced clinical decision support tools to improve care coordination, reduce duplication of efforts and drive quality improvement and engagement with patients through the network’s digital patient portal are some of the main accomplishments that led to St. Luke’s Stage 7 accreditation. 

“Technology is not just about advancements, it is about weaving innovation into the fabric of healing and care in order to empower better patient outcomes,” said Senior Director Clinical Informatics and Training Jennifer Grell.
