A subsidiary of B. Braun is closing in Lehigh County, eliminating 173 jobs by the end of the year.
According to a Pennsylvania WARN Notice, Central Admixture Pharmacy Services, or CAPS, is closing its two locations at 6580 and 6845 Snowdrift Road in Allentown.
According to its website, CAPS is the largest network of outsourcing admixture pharmacies in the country. It is a provider of 503A compounded sterile preparations.
CAPS said the layoffs will begin starting Sept. 30.
The company issued the following statement on its website.
“CAPS has made the decision to exit the 503B sterile compounding business as part of a strategic refocus on its core operations and long-term sustainability.
The decision represents a shift to focus on our CAPS 503A compounding business where we will continue to support and invest in our nationwide network of pharmacies and capabilities. CAPS 503A compounding business remains a critical part of the B. Braun portfolio, delivering high-quality, reliable, patient-specific solutions to hospital and outpatient providers through 21 locations across the United States”
