The president of D. Gillette Industrial Services in Easton was named Pennsylvania Small Business Person of the Year by the U.S. Small Business Administration’s Eastern Pennsylvania District Office.
Dorothea Spencer was nominated by John Johnson, president and CEO of MBDM.
Two Reading business owners also received recognition in the 2024 Small Business Week Awards.
Super Natural & Fresh Produce, Inc., Reading. was named Eastern Pennsylvania District Minority-Owned Small Business of the Year. Leopoldo Sanchez, president, was nominated by James Buerger, senior vice president, Community First Fund.
And Lourdes Peralta, owner of Sarai Variety Flower Shop, Reading, received the Eastern Pennsylvania District Woman-Owned Small Business of the Year. She was nominated by Alba Fernandez, senior vice president, Community First Fund.
The U.S. Small Business Administration said its Eastern Pennsylvania Small Business Awards winners are selected from nominees across Pennsylvania’s eastern 40 counties. The local recognition is part of the annual Presidentially-designated National Small Business Week taking place April 28 – May 4, 2024.
“We celebrate National Small Business Week to recognize the critical contributions of America’s entrepreneurs and small business owners. We applaud the achievements of small businesses and the organizations that assist them,” said SBA Eastern Pennsylvania District Director Steven Dixel. “Each business is exceptional and deserving of recognition as they have grown their business, created jobs, demonstrated resilience, ingenuity, and creativity; and contributed to the growth of their local communities and the economy.”
