Online voting starts Wednesday for the 11th anniversary year of the What’s So Cool About Manufacturing Student Video Contest of the .

Voting will begin at 12:01 a.m. March 13 and will remain open until March 15 at 11:59 p.m.  at www.whatssocool.org

Student teams from 30 regional middle school teams are competing for the most votes to win the coveted “Viewers Choice Award.”

The videos will also be reviewed by a panel of judges for awards in eleven other categories, including Outstanding Career Pathway, Outstanding Editing and Outstanding Creativity.

“We are thrilled to celebrate the 11th year of What’s So Cool with the Lehigh Valley community at our annual awards event,” says Rich Hobbs, MRC president and CEO. “While we look forward to the public joining the online voting campaign, what we love seeing most is the hard work and collaboration between the students, teachers and manufacturers, as well as the impact of sharing their message about manufacturing opportunities right here in our region.”

The first contest was developed in the Lehigh Valley to promote manufacturing careers to middle school students. The contest pairs students with manufacturers in their community to learn about what they do and what career opportunities there may be.

Since its inception, the What’s So Cool About Manufacturing Student Video Contest format has grown to 16 regional contests and has been adopted by stakeholders in 12 additional states.

Voting is open to the public. Participants may vote for more than one video and as often as they wish. The winner will be announced during this year’s awards event on March 26.
