Bell Hall opened Thursday on the ground floor of The Trifecta Building at 612 Hamilton St.
P.J. Brady, bar manager, described the restaurant as a “gourmet burger place,” which makes its burgers with “top-of-the-line meat,” but without top-of-the-line prices.
Many of the burgers, which include grass-fed beef, dry-aged beef, lamb, salmon, poultry and black bean, are under $10. Besides burgers, there are salads, appetizers and entrees.
There also is a full bar, although Brady said the emphasis is on beer with 20 beers on tap, 15 of which will be rotating.
The restaurant will serve a variety of locally brewed beers, including craft brews from HiJinx in Allentown, Funk in Emmaus and Weyerbacher in Easton.
The restaurant will be open Monday through Thursday 11-1 a.m. and Friday and Saturdays 11-2 a.m., so Brady does expect a bar scene at night.
“We want it to be a fun, casual environment for people to come out and enjoy,” he said.
The restaurant seats nearly 200 people when combining the bar, main dining area, patio seating and a small party room in the back.
When the back room is not booked for a private event, it can be used for overflow dining during busy nights, such as when the Lehigh Valley Phantoms hockey team is playing at PPL Center, about a block away.
For those wondering about the name of the restaurant, Bell Hall is a tribute to the history of the location. During the Revolutionary War, the Liberty Bell was briefly hidden next door so it couldn’t be stolen by British soldiers.
