A building that formerly housed a luxury resale boutique and an HVAC company has been acquired by a multigenerational family of butchers.
Jeremy and Allison Scavazzo plan to convert the building at 5751 Nor-Bath Boulevard in East Allen Township into Scavazzo’s Gilded Cleaver, a family-owned butcher shop and provisions market.
The Scavazzos received assistance on commercial financing for the acquisition from Jeff Barber of Lehigh Financial Group LLC.
Jeremy Scavazzo, whose family trade traces back to the early 1960s, learned meat cutting at a young age under his grandfather at Dottie Lou Meats & Catering in Tunkhannock.
Scavazzo’s Gilded Cleaver will feature classic family recipes and methods passed down directly through generations.
“I grew up in the business,” Scavazzo said. “I learned everything from my grandfather at a very young age. The dream was to always own my own shop one day. Everything is just starting to come to fruition. Getting back into the business is exciting.”
According to a press release, demolition and interior buildouts are scheduled to begin immediately, launching a two-month construction plan to merge the units into a unified shop.
The owners are targeting a fall grand opening event featuring a community pig roast.
The facility will feature a temperature-controlled prep room, existing walk-in cooler and freezer infrastructure, and two custom smokehouses.
