Hotel Bethlehem named America’s best historic hotel for sixth straight year

Hotel Bethlehem on Aug. 12 earned America’s Best Historic Hotel/Resort from USA Today 10Best for the sixth year running.
A panel of experts curated nominations, and the public made their final votes to determine the recognition. The hotel, which opened in 1922 and sits adjacent to the newest U.S. UNESCO World Heritage Site, the Moravian church settlements, has 125 guest rooms, a grand lobby, two restaurants, two ballrooms and seven meeting rooms. It also features the Hotel B Ice Cream Parlor serving Penn State Creamery ice cream, Grandpa Joe’s Candy Shop, Steel Magnolia Spa & Salon and other amenities.
“I’m continuously overwhelmed with the community support we receive every year,” Hotel Bethlehem managing partner Bruce Haines said in a release.
Hotel Bethlehem earned the top spot, followed by locations like the Grand Hotel Golf Resort & Spa in Fairhope, Ala., The Peabody Memphis, Congress Hall in Cape May and more. The Omni Bedford Springs Resort in Pennsylvania earned the number 10 spot.
“You are judged by the company you keep,” said Haines. “It’s clear our beloved ‘Hotel B’ is among the best of the best.”
Haines also credited the “power of partnerships” that contributed to campaign success. This year, the hotel expanded its partnership with Historic Bethlehem Museums & Sites (HBMS). “The hotel delivers the visitors and HBMS brings the stories to life,” he said.
Hotel Bethlehem’s media recognition has earned the city a 20-percent boost in transient leisure business over the last year. July alone saw a 50-percent boost, according to Haines. The hotel is affiliated with Historic Hotels of America, a program of the National Trust for Historic Preservation.
