A ribbon cutting ceremony was held Tuesday for the opening of The Seville Apartments in Easton. The 67-unit project by represents a $15 million investment in the city that is expected to bring 100 residents downtown.

The property at 56 N. 3rd St. In the city is just a “stone’s throw” from the Easton Public Market and Centre Square said John Callahan, director of development for Peron.

“That’s 100 new people that will be living and working in the city,” he said.

The 90,000-square-foot building has 44 one-bedroom apartments, 23 two-bedroom apartments. About one third of the units are already rented since going on the market Feb. 1.

Amenities include a community room, fitness room, dog-washing area and bike storage.

The property got its name from the Seville theater, which was located at the spot for decades before being demolished in the 1970s. It had most recently been used as a parking lot owned by the city of Easton, which sold the land to Peron to be used as a spot for the new apartment building.

The Seville also has a retail space on its first floor. Callahan said Peron hopes to attract a small restaurant to the space.
