PPL Foundation announces emergency funding for food

The PPL Foundation has announced $100,000 in emergency funding to support agencies working to close gaps in food access throughout eastern and central Pennsylvania.
The announcement is in response to growing concerns about food insecurity. According to a release, the grants will benefit more than 60 nonprofit organizations working to meet needs and build sustainable communities.
“We are committed to helping our neighbors through difficult times,” Lissette Santana, president of the PPL Foundation, said in a statement. “We’re proud to stand alongside community agencies responding to a growing public health challenge and working to provide a critical safety net for those most at risk.”
This funding will help keep essential food pantries stocked with critical staples and ensure that food and financial assistance is distributed efficiently to where it’s needed most, per the release.
“At a time when many of our neighbors are facing uncertainty around their SNAP benefits, this generous gift offers not just nourishment, but hope,” said Shila Ulrich, chief executive officer of the Central Pennsylvania Food Bank. “We are deeply grateful for this support, which will help ensure families across our communities have access to the food they need.”
PPL Foundation this year has also contributed $400,000 to the Lehigh Valley Community Foundation’s Good Neighbor Energy Fund, which helps individuals facing financial hardship across eastern and central Pennsylvania.
