After announcing earlier this week that it was acquired by an El Paso, Texas firm, Bethlehem‘s Stuffed Puffs has announced it’s closing down its Bethlehem manufacturing plant laying off 106 workers.
According to a WARN Notice posted on the Pennsylvania Department of Labor and Industry, the manufacturer of marshmallows stuffed with chocolate would begin layoffs starting Oct. 26 and would be closing by Nov. 9.
The company recently announced that it had been acquired by Mount Franklin Foods LLC, a manufacturer of branded, contract and private label confectionary, nuts, snacks and foodservice products for an undisclosed sum.
Founded by Michael Tierney, Stuffed Puffs has benefited from celebrity investors like Grammy-nominated artist Marshmello and his manager Moe Shalizi, the Texas company said.
The acquisition aligns with Mount Franklin Foods’ strategic goal to diversify and expand its product offerings, it said in a release.
Mount Franklin Foods added that it has a large co-manufacturing and private label business supporting brands and retailers across the country.
