Founded in 1963, ATAS International, Inc. is a third-generation family-owned manufacturer of metal components for building exteriors and interiors. In 1984, their HQ moved to Allentown.
The company is currently owned and operated by Dick Bus, Jim Bus, Mark Bus, Eric Bus, Tony Bus, and Tiffany Hutcheson.
The business began when Jack and Nel Bus moved from the Netherlands in the 1950s. “The hardworking duo saw a business opportunity while Jack was installing siding and trim in Rochester, NY,” the company said. “Prior to the advent of portable metal forming equipment, he noticed contractors did not have the ability to bend their own products on-site. Jack then had the idea to do it for them and provided bent trim and other products to the contractors for their projects.”
All six family members currently involved in the company hold leadership positions. They spoke about their long-term goal to become a leading manufacturer of metal panels for large-scale buildings such as hospitals, sports arenas, and schools.
“Additionally, we aim to be able to efficiently produce small orders with quick turnaround times across our various manufacturing locations throughout the country,” the owners said. “This dual approach enables us to provide high-end, custom manufacturing while also serving local markets as a trusted sheet metal manufacturer.”
The company said moving forward, automating equipment is critical as they expand more product lines, selling in new markets, and supplying material for large and small projects.
