In his role as president, Julien Sauvagnargues oversees Olympus’ medical technology business activities throughout North and South America from the Americas’ company headquarters in Center Valley. His responsibilities include management of shared corporate services supporting the sales, marketing and manufacturing teams in finance, compliance, human resources and other areas.
He has served as president for three years.
He said he makes it a point to communicate employee value, and in a way that is personal, by reminding employees that he doesn’t have all the answers. “I strive to have the best subject matter experts and functional leaders present and engaged to help advise and explore and provide direction and solutions. Lately we’ve hosted small roundtables and in-person Town Hall meetings. Getting to know our employees and the work they are doing, while getting their regular feedback, helps me to be a better leader,” Sauvagnargues said.
As the pandemic waned, he said a new challenge was how best to reconnect colleagues in the office while maintaining the flexibility of working from home. “We listened to peoples’ comments and concerns, and I am proud of our work arriving at an agile work policy that includes two days in the office and three remotely, which we branded for more enthusiasm: Together2Day. The result is the re-emergence of a dynamic workplace where in-person collaboration is balanced with the desired flexibility,” Sauvagnargues said.
