LVHN parent announces major layoffs

Jefferson Health, the Philadelphia-based parent of Lehigh Valley Health Network, has confirmed that it is laying off about 1% of its staff, a number estimated at between 600 to 700 staffers.
The health network did not disclose what type of jobs would be eliminated, where the job reductions would occur, or how they would affect positions at Lehigh Valley Health Network locations.
Jefferson CEO, Joseph Cacchione, cited financial hardships for the decision.
“Like many organizations in health care and higher education, we are facing significant financial headwinds,” he said in a statement. “To sustain our mission and continue serving our communities, we must take thoughtful, strategic actions to align our operations for the future. While these decisions are never easy, they are necessary to ensure Jefferson remains strong and able to invest in expanding access to care, advancing innovation, and supporting those who rely on us most.”
Lehigh Valley Health Network became part of Jefferson Health in July of 2024, creating what it described as one of the top 15 not-for-profit health systems in the U.S. with 32 hospitals and more than 700 sites of care.
