Members 1st Federal Credit Union announced Thursday it is partnering with Pocono Raceway.
The motorsports venue’s economic impact on Pennsylvania and beyond is significant, according to a release. A study by East Stroudsburg University estimated Pocono Raceway‘s annual economic impact at $257.5 million
Pocono Raceway has contributed more than $2 billion to Pennsylvania’s economy over the years. Each NASCAR Cup Series race at Pocono infuses an estimated $75–$100 million into Pennsylvania’s economy, which puts it on par with the $87 million generated by Penn State Football over an entire home season.
“The numbers speak for themselves, Pocono Raceway is a true economic engine for Pennsylvania,” Michael Wilson, president and CEO of Members 1st Federal Credit Union said in a statement. “This partnership reflects our shared commitment to community impact and long-term investment and growth in the regions we serve.”
Members 1st supports Pocono Raceway’s Military Affairs division, the credit union serving as presenting sponsor of the Gold Star Families Ceremony and Breakfast held during each Cup Series race weekend. Members 1st was founded at the Mechanicsburg Navy Depot in 1950 and has deep military roots and a long-standing commitment to those who serve.
“Our team at the Raceway is passionate about our communities, the military and will take real joy in celebrating with our partners and guests in Members 1st Victory Lane,” Pocono Raceway President Ben May said. “Our partnership with Members 1st is built on that foundation and while we will celebrate, we will also take time out of race day to honor those we’ve lost alongside their families and friends.”
The June 20-22 NASCAR weekend at Pocono Raceway includes the NASCAR Cup Series race, The Great American Getaway 400 presented by VISITPA.com, the NASCAR Xfinity Series, and CRAFTSMAN Truck Series race as part of the triple-header that annually attracts fans from all 50 states and 13 countries.
