Gunnar Brunius is vice president and general manager at Lehigh Operators for Mack Trucks, a role he has held for the past five years. Brunius oversees the daily operations and manufacturing at the 1.7 million square foot facility in Lower Macungie Township.

“Founded in 1900 by Jack and Gus Mack in Brooklyn, NY, Mack trucks” are currently sold and serviced in nearly 30 countries around the world, the company’s website said.

Mack is among the largest manufacturers of medium and heavy-duty trucks and “proprietary engines and transmissions” in North America.

“In the Lehigh Valley, [Mack] employs more than 2,900 people. I’m responsible for driving continuous improvement to increase production, reduce costs and ensure the on-time delivery of quality products to our customers,” Brunius said.

Brunius said persistent supply chain uncertainty over the past several years and throughout 2024 has translated to adaptations and change.

“We have become adept at managing the situation by continuously adapting our production schedule and building more flexibility into our operating systems. Our team’s ingenuity and innovative thinking has increased production levels “within the confines of the supply chain” available, he said.
